Baptism Checklist
Here's what to expect. At Today.Church, we practice baptism by full immersion in water – meaning you are going to get soaked! You will want to bring extra, dark colored clothing you do not mind getting wet. Most people wear dark shorts or pants and a dark t-shirt. You may want to bring sandals or flip flops to walk around in before and after. Changing facilities will be available, and there will be a set time for you to change. There’s a quick checklist below. Also, don’t forget to invite your family and friends to celebrate with you and be a part of this special day.
Checklist of things to bring:
___ Dark t-shirt and dark shorts
___ Change of clothes
___ Large towel (for drying off)
___ Flip-flops, sandals or water shoes
___ Pony tail holder (if you have long hair)
___ Toiletries or other personal items (for after the baptism)
___ A small plastic bag or sack for your wet clothes
What to expect:
- Be prepared to answer YES when asked if you have fully committed your life to follow Jesus. You may also be asked to share a short testimony of WHY you want to be baptized. It is also possible, and totally optional, that a short video statement will be recorded. This is your opportunity to share your experience as a Jesus follower in a few brief sentences!
- You will be instructed on how to hold your arms so they can be lowered into the water. This part is easy! Just relax and enjoy the experience.
- Celebration! This will be an important moment in your new life as a Jesus follower and we are excited to be able to celebrate with you!
At Today.Church we are all about:
Celebration. Following Jesus Together Is a Blast!
We don’t celebrate stuff. That’s boring. Celebrating people is more fun!
Who can you invite to help celebrate this important step as a disciple of Jesus? It’s as easy as, “Come and see!”
