Hey ה

The letter ה (hey) is the fifth letter of the Aleph-Bet and is also used as the number 5. Its classic pictograph is like a man with arms raised. Jewish mystics associate this letter with the divine breath, revelation, and light.

Hey ה Prayer Focus: Jesus Is The Light!

The literal meaning of the name Hey is look, or behold. In the days of creation, God saw that what He created was good. In the creation account, light is mentioned 5 times on the first day.

Thus, Hey ה is also associated with God’s creative power. So much symbolism here. If you have experienced the first Creation to Christ reading in a Discovery Group, there are many correlations!

Psalms 33:6 (NLT)

6 The LORD merely spoke,

and the heavens were created.

He breathed the word,

and all the stars were born.

“Let there be light!” “He breathed the word!”

John 1:1 (NLT) 1 In the beginning the Word already existed.

The Word was with God,

and the Word was God.

John 1:4-5 (NLT) The Word gave life to everything that was created,

and his life brought light to everyone.

5 The light shines in the darkness,

and the darkness can never extinguish it.

Today we focus on on the Light of Jesus that shines in darkness. We can’t turn the dark off, but Jesus is the light! Let’s let Him shine in our lives! Here are some scriptures to meditate on as we pray together: (mouse over or click the scripture references)

Section ה of Psalm 119

Psalms 119:32-40 (NET) ה (He)

33 Teach me, O LORD, the lifestyle prescribed by your statutes,

so that I might observe it continually.

34 Give me understanding so that I might observe your law,

and keep it with all my heart.

35 Guide me in the path of your commands,

for I delight to walk in it.

36 Give me a desire for your rules,

rather than for wealth gained unjustly.

37 Turn my eyes away from what is worthless!

Revive me with your word!

38 Confirm to your servant your promise,

which you made to the one who honors you.

39 Take away the insults that I dread!

Indeed, your regulations are good.

40 Look, I long for your precepts.

Revive me with your deliverance!
