Bet

The letter ב (bet) is the second letter of the Hebrew alphabet. The ancient pictograph for bet is a house or dwelling. The opening on the left side of the letter implies a window. Bet has a numerical value of two. Bet is the first letter of the first word in the Bible, berisheet, which is often translated, “In the beginning”.

ב Prayer Focus: God’s Coming Kingdom!

Tradition explains that because the Torah begins with the letter representing the number two, God’s creation is not one world but two. There is the world now, and the realm of the world to come. It’s important to understand that in Bible times, they considered only these two eras – the world now, and the world to come.

Jesus communicated that same way!

Matthew 12:32 (NLT)
Anyone who speaks against the Son of Man can be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven, either in this world or in the world to come.

Today, let’s pray specifically “Your Kingdom come.” Jesus began His public ministry proclaiming God’s Kingdom – both now and to come. Here are some scriptures to meditate on as we pray together: (mouse over or click the scripture references)

ב Section of Psalm 119

Psalms 119:8-16 (NET)
ב (Bet)
9 How can a young person maintain a pure life?
By guarding it according to your instructions!
10 With all my heart I seek you.
Do not allow me to stray from your commands!
11 In my heart I store up your words,
so I might not sin against you.
12 You deserve praise, O LORD!
Teach me your statutes!
13 With my lips I proclaim
all the regulations you have revealed.
14 I rejoice in the lifestyle prescribed by your rules
as if they were riches of all kinds.
15 I will meditate on your precepts
and focus on your behavior.
16 I find delight in your statutes;
I do not forget your instructions.
